Fly

Spread your wings and fly,

  up there in the sky.

Leave us old ones behind,

  no more our lives entwined.

Go boldly from the nest,

  an unbound life the quest.

The parting bittersweet,

  as surly bonds retreat.

Go and climb the summit,

  the big sky has no limit,

We know you will go far,

  but we’ll leave the door ajar.

May one day bring you home,

  but now it’s time to roam.
